8 Easy Things You Should Do Before Your Carpet Cleaner Arrives

Floor lamps, waste baskets, toys, clothing, shoes, plant stands, magazine racks should be removed from the areas that need to be cleaned. If you would like us to clean under coffee tables, end tables, dining chairs and any other small to medium sized furniture, they will need to be removed from the areas that are being cleaned.

You will need to keep your pets in a safe place and away from the cleaning areas until after everything is fully dried. What Is Filtration Soiling?
Filtration lines occur no matter the type of home, business or facility.
Filtration lines (soiling) are those dark lines or bands of soils that you find along walls, under doors that are kept closed for a length of time, under the skirting of furniture or up and down staircases, and more.
This type of soiling is difficult to remove because the soil particles are so fine that they penetrate deep into the carpet pile, sometimes into the backing of the carpet. Can it be removed? Sometimes. With special products, time and effort, reasonable results can sometimes be achieved.
How do they form?
In your home or building as air is warmed, typically while the furnace runs, the air, full of pollutants, goes up and then searches out cooler surfaces, such as an outside wall or another room.
As the air passes through the edge of the carpet pile, this microscopic soiling is deposited there (hence the term filtration soiling). This occurs over a significant period of time and is not noticed until a buildup has occurred.
Their makeup is oily and the molecules of the soils are so small that cleaning them or removing them from fibers is difficult.
In addition, they have an electrical charge that bonds them firmly to the fiber.
As the air moves toward the cooler area, it will push its way through carpeted surfaces (under doors, etc.) and “clean itself.”
Just as carpet is a filter, it is much more so when air moves from one room to another, or when air moves under furniture, etc.
What is left behind is a buildup of oily soils that are very difficult to remove.
As more time passes, more soils build up and soon you have a tremendous cleaning challenge.
How to prevent filtration soiling
To help prevent filtration soiling, vacuum and wipe the edges of the carpeting on a regular basis. Be careful around the tack strip on the edge of the carpeting, it could nick your fingers! Also, be sure to change your air filter for your air conditioning/heating system on a regular basis.
